Welcome to Ngala Maya Native Bird Rescue (Peel) Inc.

Welcome Swallow chicks We are a dedicated group of volunteers who rescue, rehabilitate and release sick, injured or orphaned wildlife.

We are also involved in community events which gives us the opportunity to educate the community about our flora and fauna and how important it is to our environment. We give talks to schools and community groups.

We are situated in Mandurah, Western Australia, a rapidly growing city where habitat for our wildlife is disappearing at an alarming rate.

Our Initiatives:
Through Operation Home Tweet Home we have, with the assistance of local business and community members, constructed nesting boxes for sale to the community to provide housing for small to medium parrots and possums. We were also involved in the construction of nesting boxes for the City of Mandurah to be positioned in trees in park and reserve areas for small to medium parrots and possums.

We have also held a raffle, craft fair, two garage sales and sold bumper stickers as fund raising ventures.

George & Mildred
George & Mildred                George and Mildred are two of four Galah chicks who were handed in by a tree lopper.
Two of the chicks were not well but after intensive care they bounced back and all four are growing like weeds and doing what babies do – making a great deal of noise.
Sadly their home has now gone and can never be replaced. Many species use the same tree year after year for nesting and raising their babies.

For the Children

I am an earth person. I embrace peace and harmony. My spirit is intrinsically entwined with the natural beauty of the earth and the creatures who dwell upon it.

I feel sadness at mankind’s quest for power and greed for the earth is slowly dying because of it. The time will come when the price will be paid for the destruction - and in the end there will be nothing.

Future generations will never see the beauty of a sunrise or experience the pure joy of watching dolphins at play. They will never see the majesty of the eagle as it soars to lofty heights, nor will they see the absolute power of a thunderstorm or feel the raindrops as they gently fall. They will never feel the breeze caress their hair as tenderly as a mothers’ hands with love, they will never be able to roam the wide open spaces or climb a mountain, one day it simply will not be there.

The time will come when we will see what we are doing to this earth and it will be too late. There is no more time for procrastination nor is there time to say that it will not happen. Our earth is struggling to maintain the balance it once had, for it is we humans who are changing the natural order of things.
