What to do when....
You find sick, injured or orphaned Wildlife

· NEVER approach an injured adult Kangaroo - if the animal has died, check to see if it is female, there is
always the possibility of a joey in the pouch...if there is, KEEP IT WARM.

· If the animal or bird is on the side of the road or on the road DO NOT under any circumstances jeopardize
your own safety or that of other road users to rescue it.

· To pick up any injured wildlife you can use a towel, sweatshirt or anything you have handy to safely and
comfortably pick it up - if you cover the head it will slightly lessen the stress it is already feeling, you can
use a box or similar for transport if available, ensure that what you use is well ventilated particularly in the
summer months and that what you are using is covered to minimise stress.

· Take the animal/bird to your nearest Vet for treatment and care - shock and stress can be of more
concern than the actual injury or illness. Vets will not charge you for doing the right thing.
· If you find an orphaned animal or bird (usually very young) - KEEP IT WARM - do not feed - all wildlife
require specialized diets in care.

· Do NOT under any circumstances attempt to feed any injured or sick animals.
